If you have a Land Rover STAY AWAY from this garage, they claim to know them but don't. I had an unfortunate dealing with them and found out they hate these cars and feel that if there are any problems inside the engine the only answer is a NEW engine. I purchased a Land Rover Discovery and took it to them for an overview to make sure things were in descent condition. They ended up doing a die test on the motor and saw that it had a few drips coming from the water pump and also had a rear wheel assembly that needed repair but otherwise everything was great. So I had them do the work but when I picked it up the check engine light came on and it went right back to them. They figured out that it was the Oxogen sensors, then we replaced those. Now everything was running fine again! They suggested that I change the spark plugs right away so I did and that is when the problems started. I put spark plugs in it that NAPA had listed as the correct part and Rudy at the garage said that that is what they would have used but when I started it up it ran bad the check engine light came on and had misfire codes so back to them it went (later I did some online research about land rovers and the types of spark plugs and found out they only like 2 kinds, Bosch Platinum 4 and Champion). They told me it was a bad fuel injector and charged me for chasing that down only to find that wasn't the problem. Next the computers told them it had a bad mass air flow sensor and also tested compression and found one cylinder low and became convinced that that was the problem and that the head HAD to come off (if you take a head off it gets really expensive really fast). They convinced me that was the only option so we did it. When they took the head off they noticed a little ware on the cam shaft and decided to tell me at this point that the only fix for this engine was actually a new engine! (total cost of the new engine: around $11,000). Now this wasn't an option for us so I asked if he would put in a new cam shaft and do the heads and put the engine back together and he said HE WOULD NOT DO THIS! it was $11,000 and that was the only option. So I towed it from James shop up to someone who knows Land Rovers (Biggs Eastside) and they put it back together for me at a reasonable price. The second shop had a completely different view of the the situation and as it turns out it basically needed new spark plugs (if you put the wrong type in it runs bad and causes misfires) and a mass air flow sensor! now it did have low compression in one of the cylinders but it was right at the 20% difference that mechanics say starts to mark a problem but James belief that these motors are the worst thing ever made made him want to take the head off and cost me over $4,000 in repair bills in stead of replacing spark plugs and a sensor that would be about $400. So my warning stands, DO NOT TAKE YOUR LAND ROVER TO THEM! THEY THINK THEY ARE JUNK AND HE REFUSED TO FIX WHAT HE STARTED.
