Businiess name:  Video American Takoma Park
Review by:  Leah H.
Review content:
Video Americain is a great little video rental place in Old Town Takoma. Unlike some of the bigger chains, Americain is known for its quirky collection of lesser-known movies and independent fare. There is a giant WALL of DIRECTORS that houses the collections of all the greats, from Hitchcock to Waters (who used the Baltimore location of this shop in his film, Serial Mom). The organization of the store, though, is a little tricky to get used to because it is divided by genre, by country, by type, so sometimes it is just easier to go directly to the desk to ask if a particular film is in stock or not. The staff can be a little snarky, especially if your film request is not highbrow, but they are generally friendly. Remember, because it is an independent shop, it only has one copy of each movie--even new releases--so it is tough to get those when they just come out. But new releases aren't really why people go to Video Americain to begin with.
