I have an electric stove at a tenants house that wasn't turning on/heating up so I called Ace Appliance to see how much the estimate would cost and they quoted me $30 if I did not choose them for the repairs and free if I did. The contractor met up with my tenants the next morning and told them the stove was fine but we had to call an electrician instead. I wasn't able to meet up with the contractor due to work but I had informed the tenants that the estimate was $30. But when I got the receipt, the charge was $40 instead of $30 for the estimate. I called Ace Appliance without telling them who I was and once again clairified that it was $30 for ANY estimate. I proceeded to ask them why I was charged $40 instead and the guy on the line started getting nervous/stuttering and said it was $40 because it was a stove...seriously? You just told me it was $30 for any estimate. He refused the $10 refund and was very rude. Their own website states estimates for stoves are $30.
