Review content:
A friend invited me on a guest pass to this dance club. After her first class, she bought an introductory package and loved it, so I decided to purchase also. It was fun, right up until the sales tactics. After my first lesson, I was sat down and told what a natural I am, how much faster than most people I was learning, how much better about myself I?ll feel, how much more attractive I will be to other people. Too bad my self esteem isn?t based on what other people think of me. I still decided to buy the introductory package because I in fact did enjoy myself. My teacher was great. He was friendly, entertaining and patient. He didn?t have a dance background, but for what I was paying for this package, about $37.16 per class, I didn?t expect him to. I just expected him to have a good knowledge about the dances. My friends teacher did have a strong dance background and she loved learning with him(although he did try the same lines with her about how much more attractive to others she would be if she continued. It?s seriously dirty pool trying to play on ?every woman?s insecurity? that her happiness depends on how others see her. We saw this multiple times. We even saw one girl break down crying while a manager and her instructor kept at her). She finished her introductory package first and decided that she wanted to continue dancing, despite the sales tactics.......until the price for "30 lessons" was given to her. It was more than the down payment for my house. And only 10 of those lessons were even private. 10 were good for group classes. The rest were from bringing in guests and from her introductory package. Basically you?re looking at 20 classes for $1800 (That?s with a ?Discount if you paid within 2 weeks. Otherwise it?s $2000). That's $90 per class. After taxes, that?s a full days pay for me. Honestly, for $90 per class, I expect my teacher to have several years of experience in dance, not just be?..oh how does the ad for new teachers put it????Applicants must be well groomed, well mannered, 18 years of age, and in good physical condition. This is definitely an industry for the "people person!" Teachers need to be warm, friendly, and not afraid of new, exciting challenges. We are looking for 3 males and 8 females immediately! Because of our comprehensive training program, prior ballroom dance experience is not required. However, previous dance training in any dance style is a definite plus! Accepted applicants will be placed in our free training program for approximately 4 weeks in length.? Guess I should have applied for a job. Sounds like I could have learned for free in 4 weeks what was going to be taught to me over months and pretty much cost me my right kidney to pay for. And I?d like to think I would at least act interested in the person I am dancing with. I wouldn?t constantly be looking around with a bored look on my face while dancing with them at the ?parties.? After we turned down more lessons (after repeatedly telling the manager and our dance instructors that there was no way possible we could afford to do this and them trying to come up with ways for us to pay for it??right down to telling us things that we could cut out of or budgets so that we could pay and constantly being told that we would regret it if we didn?t do this, that they can?t change the prices but they can make the payments smaller for a longer amount of time) we were kinda treated like second class citizens. Pros: null Cons: null
