I shopped here for an engagement ring before, the settings were a little steep for me( Some nice stuff but 7K and no rock with it ?). I ended up finding one on vacation in AZ. I bought the stone in from a dealer in CAL. When I got home I visited 2 jewelers to get the stone set, they both said no problem, but had 1 week turn around, one place wanted $60, the other $100. I called MJ told them what I had, they said no appointment they have jewelers there all the time, they can set it in 2 hours, it would be $200. To get it done quickly I was willing to pay the premium, I went over there, they immediately said I would have a tough time finding anybody to set it when it wasn't purchased from them, I told them I already talked to 2 others that said they would do it, they then said they can do it, but they would need a week. I asked about doing on the spot or even coming back and making an appointment to do it. They said no I would have to leave it, then said they have cracked stones in the past and would not be liable to what happen to it when they had it ( I understand that can happen, but the other 2 jewelers looked and it and said no problem. It really didn't give me a warm and fuzzy to their confidence in their skills), and said it would be $300. I asked why so much? They said because of the size and risk, which I still could not figure out since they just told me they would be responsible if anything happened to the rock while they had it. At that point I was walking out (thinking the $300 of work wasn?t worth it to them) and they asked me where I was taking it I told them where (tdc a reputable jeweler around for 20 years and has all 5 star reviews on this site). They said I should not take it there, I asked them why and they said because they don?t know him (talk about pompous). To make a long story short don't waste your time unless you have money to burn. There are a lot better and more honest jewelers out there that provide a better experience. Pros: They do have nice stuff in stock. Cons: Expensive, Don't instill confindence in their repair/assembly work.
