I no longer trust the service department generally regarding competance and effectiveness. Like an earlier post from another customer, I was one who researched a Technical Service Bulltein ("TSB") about my brake rotors needing resurfaced. The service advisor told me that all Honda's with exception of the '97 Accord do not require an on-car brake lathe. The fact is according to their own bulletin ALL models are to be treated with the on-car brake disc resurfacing because it deals with the fundamental issue of hub runout (beneath the disc is the hub which can at times develop an uneven surface and only resurfacing the disc while connected to the hub will compensate for and thus elimate conditions such as pulsation do to an uneven surface), I don't necessarily mind educating a service advisor, but when they counter with untrained knowledge and perform service reluctantly, it doesn't instill confidence. I questioned the same advisor about another repair procedure detailed in a TSB and was told, 'frankly, our guys don't do that kind of thing.' It was a steering pull that I corrected myself by following the TSB - a simple fix involving factory adjustment bolts sold at their parts counter. I don't understand how they are staying in business.
