NEVER TRUST CAJUN'S WHARF to provide what they say they will for a banquet! Since I live in Houston, I started planning our son's rehearsal dinner 6 months in advance with many phone calls to their banquet manager (MG) and she assured me that all was going according to plan. Even as late as the day before the event we spoke on the phone and she never indicated that anything had changed except that she convinced me that we should do tables of 10 rather that the tables of eight as that would give us more space. (I should have known she was up to something then, but I trusted her). The morning of the event when we were setting up the video and sound equipment, I found out that they had reduced our room space to 1/2 the room rather than the 3/4 that had verbally been agreed upon. The room was very crowded and uncomfortable, a hosted bar had been agreed upon and when we arrived they were charging our guests for bar service. This was embarrasing to us. I had requested an extra table be set for guests who were arriving in town late and would join us for toasts, there was no extra seating and no room for it. To be fair, the food was very good ad the wait staff did a nice job although off the record they indicated frustration with the overcrowded situation. Lesson...DON"T TRUST CAJUN'S and get a detailed written contract when working with their banquet manager (MG) as she is certainly not in the business of doing what's right. I heard many versions and excuses from her when I questioned their errors, (none of which were consistent) She was like one of their crawfish, backing up and going a different direction, every time she was asked a question. In the end she acted nasty and like I should be grateful for the insignificant adjustment that was made to our bill only after we got the credit card company involved. It's a shame that she had such little respect for a very special day in our family's life. She, at least, should have been truthful, gracious and apologetic. Never again!
