I have a 1999 VW Jetta w/ very high mileage. I love the car but I dread going to get anything repaired on it because the first words out of everyone's mouths is- It is a Volkswagon so it is going to cost more to fix. I was tired of feeling ripped off and treated like 'a dumb blond' who wouldn't understand anything so why bother to explain! A few months ago, I had a major problem with a coolant leak and an oil leak. I was told everything from I would need to have the engine replaced (cracked block) to 'it probably is not worth fixing but if you want us to look at it, it is going to cost a bundle'. I found Uptown Imports on the Internet, read the reviews and decided to give them a try. They got me in right away, diagnosed and explained the problems and offered alternatives I could consider. I had them do the work and they charged what they had estimated - which was a shock since I have always ended up with 'add-ons' that appear on the final bill that are unexpected. They did not try to sell me anything extra with the exception of their Car Care Club- John explained that if I bought the card, I would get more discounts on the work they just did than the card cost. I would also have free oil changes and other benefits! I bought it. Monday morning of this week, I went out to the car in the morning and found that the passenger window had fallen off the track. I called glass dealers who estimated that the repairs would be a MINIMUM of $400. Uptown did it for just over $250. They did some other work, charged exactly what they had estimated and explained what they had done. On top of it all, they washed my car! These people are great!
