Review content:
Last night my husband and I went to Favre's for the first (and last) time. The decor is intimate and beautiful; white linens, nice stemware on the tables, perfect lighting. We were greeted and seated immediately. We thought we would be in for a real treat. We looked at the menu, and while we were not stunned by the prices, they were higher than most. We assumed this was because the quality of the food and method of preparation and presentation would be superior. Our server came to greet us and take a drink order. I asked her what the house specialty was or what drinks were particularly good here. She replied that she wasn't 21 yet, therefore was not familiar with the drinks. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? What kind of an answer was that? Especially when followed with, "Would you like to see our martini menu and wine list?" There were 104 different martinis on the list, and this poor girl couldn't think to recommend a single one of them?! I found my own, a berry concoction--not bad--and I selected a glass of wine to be served with my entree. My husband and I each ordered a steak and salad. The salads were fine, but the bread that was served with them was stale and tasteless. After what seemed like an unusually long time for medium rare steaks, our entrees arrived. I cut into my steak and it was medium-well (this would explain its puny size). When our server returned with the wine (much too late) I asked her how I had ordered the steak, just to be sure there was no miscommunication. She said that I had indeed ordered it medium rare. The replacement arrived swiftly- probably because it was raw-rare. The wine glass was so filthy that I was unable to drink the wine. My husband's steak was all right but not nearly as good as what we could get at Texas Roadhouse. I guess that explains why you always have to wait at the Roadhouse and why Favre's lot was nearly empty. That, and the twice average pricetag. This place needs serious help.
Pros: no waiting
Cons: always a reason for no waiting
