I have to say that I was a little hesitant to go here because I've read some bad reviews in the past. However, I decided to take my sick umbrella cockatoo here because they were the only facility willing to look at my bird without charging me an outrageous emergency fee. We had been going to Dr. Kovar at the Bothell Pet Hospital but in the past few years she has stopped seeing birds. I didn't know what to expect and I was on guard when I went to Avian and Exotic. I found them to be very friendly and upfront with their costs (which is very important to me.) They provided me with a detailed estimate of all testing and treatment that they were suggesting and explained everything in normal english. In the end we decided to run about half the tests. No one there made me feel like a bad pet owner for not choosing to do everything. They ran some blood work on the machines they have in their hospital. It was nice to get results so quickly. My bird was started on antibiotics the same day and her infection resolved in a few weeks. I found the whole experience painless and their prices more reasonable than other vets that I've been to. I wish I would have just started goign here sooner. I feel very comforted knowing that they are avialable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should we ever need them.
