Review content:
I reluctantly allowed myself to be admitted to the ICU as I had DKA and my blood pressure was through the roof. I felt that I should just be given some insulin so I could continue working the next day. Work has always been the most important to me. I was also to be my daughters surgery support in 4 days. I couldn't be in the hospital!!! The doctors, nurses, all the hospital staff that cared for me during my stay were outstanding. Dr. Lafleur and Dr. Zhou truly saved me. They were so caring to me so that I had to realize that I should care enough about myself to get well. ICU was brand spanking new - state of the art. and Yes, once I got upstairs things were old, not so convenient, whatever. I felt bad for the night time staff though. They had so many patients every night they could spend little time beyond just getting vitals. Once I was feeling stronger I even offered to make my own bed because the nurse's assistant had so much to do - she of course told me no and then proceeded to make it in less than 1 minute. Also some of the best hospital food I've ever had. Even though Valley Medical is more modern and considered the hospital to go to - I'd rather be at Auburn Regional. Also the staff run - I mean run fast like race to ensure the care is there when needed. They truly care.
