Review content:
The concept is great but in all you get what you pay for.
I went in for what I thought was a simple job - 3 tracks sewn in. I arrived at 715am and was already #15 in line. I was called into a chair by 10am. I explained exactly what I needed and the stylist confirmed that she could work her “magic” and make my additives look as natural as possible. It literally took the stylist all but 15 minutes to braid, sew in the hair and I was on my way. I headed to the next salon to style my hair and in less than an hour after leaving the weave express, 2 of my 3 tracks were hanging on by a thread (literally). I have had some “hook ups” in the past, the sort of do your friend’s friend does for you in her kitchen – and even with that, I’ve never experienced such a botched job.
I took photos and called the weave express to inform them of the situation. Luckily for me, the 2nd salon was able to redo the tracks (all three had to be redone) and after 2 hours, I headed back to the Landover Weave Express to collect my refund.
Once I arrived, the “manager” (Alexis I believe her name is) seemed apologetic about the experience. I had paid $55 for services and tipped my stylist $15. I was refunded $55 of the total amount; as if to say the stylist actually deserved compensation for wasting my entire Saturday along with gas & mileage. After making a fuss, the manager went to speak with the stylist who by the way never even bothered to apologize to me for her unacceptable performance. I was made to wait about 10 more minutes before the manager came back to say that the stylist only had $8 of my $15. Mind you, the stylist began working at 8am and it was not 345pm and every seat was filled in the waiting room, styling chairs and over flow room. The manager then proceeded to take up for the stylist claiming that what she did with her money was her business and there was nothing she would do. The conversation with the manager was futile; she then had the nerve to ask me to come back again on Monday to pick up my $7.
Trust that $7 will neither make nor break me, but at the end of the day it is the PRINCIPLE of the situation. This “manager” boasted how she ran some other salon, but with this sort of customer service I can’t imagine the service one would receive there. Stores like these lower the reputation of black owned business and make the black consumer take their business elsewhere. Miss Alexis, perhaps you should attend a business relations & customer service class prior to serving anyone else. Your service and conversation were unacceptable. The service your stylist provided was appalling. If she is unable to handle a task, she should say just that.
If you need a cheap FULL head of weave and have a day to waste –head to the Landover Weave Express.
If you want a proper job– all types of hair/styles – and care about customer service, take your business elsewhere.
