Chapel of the Chimes is a long running funeral services business that has earned the title "Service of Marked Distinction". The original founding was in 1909 with the establishment of the California Memorial Crematorium and Columbarium. Expanded in 1928with the help of renowned architect Julia Morgan, she introduced an intriguing and innovative array of gardens, cloisters, alcoves, stairwells, fountains and chapels rising into vaulted ceilings and illuminated by dazzling natural light. Morgan's visionhas been maintained as the facility has expanded to one and a half city blocks, including a new funeral home which opened in January 1999.
