Thomasville Pediatrics has been my daughter's doctor since we moved to Thomasville almost a year ago. I really like a few of the MDs there including York, Reedy, Rob Williams, and Roberson but my last visit there caused me to lose all faith in this office...particularly the nurses. My daughter went in for a sick visit on Monday and the Dr ordered a strep test and urine culture. I was told to call back the next day and check on both. I called the following day and the nurse I spoke with said the strep culture was negative at 24 hours but she couldn't find where a urine culture had been done despite the fact that a urine sample was given and the Dr had ordered it. So I took my daughter back to the Dr to give another sample and was told to call back the following day. I was called at around 5 the next day and told that the urine culture turned up positive and that my daughter had a uti and to check with my pharmacy after 7:30 for her prescription. At 7:45 the pharmacy didn't have anything. I called the office to see what was going on and the receptionist said the Dr had to go to the hospital and therefore couldn't get to it. I expressed my concerns that this test should have been done a day earlier and that it was unacceptable for my daughter to have to wait another day to get antibiotics in her system. The receptionist said nothing could be done until the next morning. The next day I call to make sure the meds had been called in and asked who to speak to to file a complaint. Awhile later a nurse called me back to see why I was complaining and after I explained everything she began to make excuses. She says well strep tests take 48 hours anyway.. I reply that the strep test is irrelevant since my daughter has a uti that could have been treated 2 days earlier had the culture been done when it was supposed to.
