STAY AWAY! I called Kathy (the owner) and told her I was interested in having a body wave for my straight thin hair. She told me she had an appointment open, should have been my first warning, open slots to perm hair on a Saturday AM. In the shot I told Kathy again that I wanted a body wave and she told me perms are out, that nobody got them anymore. She told me that I had beautiful natural hair color (never colored) and that it would look great if she added some highlights. She grabbed some books (already dismissed my idea of a perm) and showed me pictures of movie stars - "see, she curls her hair, no perm, see straight hair is in..." I told her that I was open to other ideas (my second mistake) but that I wanted something other than straight hair around my face and that I wouldnt curl my hair in the mornings. Again, I have to say that this is my fault for not sticking with my original plans, but I allowed Kathy to put highlights in my hair, with the promise of a good haircut for my face. She pulled the foil packets out of my hair (she didn't open them and take them off, she pulled them out) and when I grimaced, she said "I like having my hair pulled and there's no beauty without pain." Off course, it was too late to back out then. She started drying my hair and it was obvious that my "highlights" were stripes. She told me that the more I washed my hair, the more the stripes would mix and look like highlights. How will washing my hair move the follicles so that the stripes will mix? When she was done, I had over-blond flat straight hair around my face (with a ragged, uneven cut). She asked me if I liked it and I could only barely keep from crying. So she cut more hair from around my face to give it the body I was looking for when I came into her salon. She only made it worse. When I left, it looked like I had grown out a badly done striped mullet! She charged me $120.00 for this mess. She then offered to perm me the same day! For another $70! I know better than color & perm same day. AWFUL!
