My son has been attending BMAA for some months now and he is going to take his 1st belt test next month. We are both very excited about the progress that he has made. He has participated in 1 tournament already. He did not win, but boy do they know how to make everyone feel like winners. He and his opponent were the only children in their age group and belt class. He didn’t leave with a trophy but he did get a medal and patches to wear on his uniform. I am soooo proud of him! He hung in there although he was a little disappointed. And toward the end of the tournament one of the older guys (teenager) and Mr. Gary (the owner) put their heads together they came up with the most amazing idea. The young man wanted "a match" with my 4yr old. When my 4yr old "won", he stood up and the judge raised his little fist in the air.... he had so much pride in his eyes. Thanks to Mr. Gary and his staff my son has more motivation then I have ever seen him have. Surely my son didn’t have the skills or strength to go up against that young man, but because this gym cares about the children they teach they do kind things like this to make everyone proud at the end of the day. This gym is everything I expected and more. There was a time that I thought I would have to pull my son from this program due to transportation and class schedule but Mr. Gary worked with me and allowed my son to come on different days with no hesitation. I am so grateful that this gym offers flexibility with the BJJ classes. My son needed this class and I needed him to take it at this dynamic gym. The skills learned here are a necessity for some kids...... some kids like mine.
