Here is true irony! Our old heat pump was working ok but not great. It was made in 1987. We had heard a radio ad for a complete new unit installed for $3999 from a well known HVAC company so we had the guy come out on Friday. His rough estimate bid was about $10,000 for a new unit installed. Thinking this was high, we said no for now. He offered to go on the roof to see how old the existing unit is to give an estimate of how much we could save on our electric bills. We said no thank you and he was gone. He was very nice. The very next day, our heater failed to work at all. Trying all the normal things first, I eventually determined that the compressor had locked up. I then remembered someone I had known in the past at Authority Heating and Air. I contacted Dave and told him about my problem. He was busy but listened patiently while I explained my concerns. He asked me to call him back the next morning after he had a chance to check on something. I called Dave the next day, he gave me a much better bid on a new package unit (that's what it is called) lol. I discussed it with my wife and then called Dave back to give him the go-ahead. He took care of everything else. It has been 4 days now and I am now comfortably sitting on my sofa nice and cozy writing up this review. He even made arraignments to have the old unit hauled away and gave me some tips on how to save money with my programmable thermostat. If you're cold or hot give Dave a call, he'll do a lot. LOL PS the unit we bought through Authority even qualifies for a great tax credit. It's a win-win. Thanks Dave.
