Review content:
We adopted our dog from Hope almost 7 years ago. These comments are specifically geared to their dog adoption policies as that is all I am familiar with.
The people at Hope were very helpful and proactive. I feel they did a great job informing me of their policies, many of which helped my dog become acclimated more quickly to me and my home. For example, one of their policies is that you have to take the dog to training classes very shortly after you adopt. I think this policy made it very easy for my dog to get used to me - it allowed us to interact with each other and established me as "owner". In addition, all dogs are up to date on shots and spayed or neutered before they are adopted. The adoption prices are also extremely reasonable ($88 when I adopted).
Another thing I really liked about Hope is that they provide foster homes for all their dogs, which means that in most cases the dog is potty trained and assimilated to a home environment when you adopt them. It also gives the foster family a good opportunity to observe if the dog is good around children, other animals, men, etc. When I adopted my dog, I was able to go to the foster home and visit the dog in a home environment which I thought was very helpful. It allowed me to see interact with her outside of a cage or a small play yard (like many humane societies). My dog was very well take care of and very much fit the description they provided on their website with regards to temperament, likes, fears, etc.
I know a few other people who have also adopted animals from Hope and had good experiences. I have recommended Hope to several people and would not hesitate to adopt from them again in the future.
