Review content:
I was deeply saddened and disturbed to visit (or try to visit) the graves of my family buried at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Baltimore today. I know this cemetery was in a disgraceful condition several years ago, but I was under the impression that the owners had been instructed to take care of the grounds and grave sites. After visiting the site today, I am convinced they are NOT doing anything but mowing the most visible area. Grave sites and family plots were overgrown with briars, trees and thick brush to the point of graves being lost (or destroyed) by the overgrowth. Lots of trash was scattered among the fallen stones. Even the mowed areas had many headstones laying over or broken. Families have paid for perpetual care for their loved ones, but the caretakers have shown extreme negligence and disrespect. When I expressed my shock and disbelief about these deplorable conditions, I was told that all I had to do was "call the caretaker and give him several days notice and they will clear a path to the grave I'm interested in". (That is assuming they could find it.) Mt. Carmel Cemetery is nothing but a disgrace and tragedy. I would not have given them even one star rating but I was forced to do so or this review would publish.
