Review content:
My preemie was taken care of at CPMC, and I have to say he got excellent care from the Physicians, Residents, Interns, and all the NICU staff! (only be careful of late night substitute nurses, insist that they call you in to the hospital if a substitute nurse is called in to take the place of your regular nurse! The only problems we had were from nurses called in who don't normally work there! Even with that, the nursing staff was willing to work with us and make things right.) One HUGE bonus of CPMC is it's world class neonatologists! Also, the clinic for high risk pregnancies is far and away the best! (those are the perinatologists!) The food at CPMC has its ups and downs, but overall is pretty decent! Proximity to good restaurants is somewhat limited near the california campus. The good news is that smoking isn't allowed on campus anywhere. The bad news is that sometimes smokers will come in right after a smoke, and that can irritate a preemies lungs. If you suspect your nurse or Respiratory Therapist or other health care provider has just come in from a smoke, complain! (you can tell by the smell! If it registers with your nose, you better believe it can bother a sick baby.)
