I used to manage a high-end spa, so I am quite familiar with massage. It was hard for me to rate between 3 or 4 stars. One amazing deal is their $39 first time client special for a 50-min. massage. Upon checking in i was given a heated neck wrap and forms to fill out while sitting in a chair by their front desk. The phone was constantly ringing and the front desk worker didn't put the phone call on hold when I went up to ask a question. All I needed to know was the date, so finally I just left my paperwork up at the counter and sat down. Minutes later she took me back to another, quiet waiting area and left me to get water on my own. I told her I was very familiar with massage, but she continued to over explain every step of it to me, as well as show me one of their rooms. The massage itself, with April, was good and on a heated table. I had somehow injured a muscle and she was able to work on it without too much pressure, which is what i'd requested. The day after, the muscle is feeling much better! The most annoying thing about massage envy is that they plugged their membership to me on the phone (1.5 hrs before my appointment) and also when I checked out. I don't want to hear about a membership that I already declined after a relaxing massage. They are also a fragrance free place, so they use all unscented products/no aromatherapy. I did not know this prior to my massage, so I had brought some essential oil just in case they didn't provide it. The therapist told me she couldn't use it since they are a fragrance free place. I understand how this can be good, but to me, a massage just isn't as good without some aromatherapy. I may go back, but not before trying somewhere else first. Pros: heated neck wrap and table, started on-time, good massage Cons: no aromatherapy, pressure to buy their membership
