Went with a group for a drink or two. Didn't have a problem getting in, the place wasn't very busy, weekday night. The drinks were good: but served in plastic due to the pool's proximity. That sort of took a little of the style out of it, but I understand about the issue with glass breakage. Then we sat and wanted to order some food. The waitress was just truly high on herself and wasn't at all inviting or even remotely kind. When asked whether we could just order a few orders of French fries, she requested money up front. I say, what? She explained that it's their policy because so many guests of the hotel fail to sign ordered items to their room bill. I thought, "what a lame, lame policy!" If we're going to sneak out on you without paying, then we have at least 100 yards to zig-zag through planters and doors before we arrive at the exit, not to mention a 15-step stairway that we have to walk down to get down from the bar to walk by the pool. So, indeed, we had to pay for the food before she even ordered it!!! This was quite a put off, and I thought I'd seen it all. I've been asked for a credit card before to open at tab at a table, but never have I had to pay before I get my order, not even in the best hotels in Europe, Las Vegas, or New York. The Sky Bar is, as far as I'm concerned, a "low point," in the geography that meanders along Sunset. And while I'm at it, the $8 per order french fries were not nearly as good as those you can get at McDonald's for one fourth (or greater fraction thereof) the cost! Save your money and keep your soul intact and find a bar where they have at least some modicum of trust in people who come in to attemp to enjoy a business' offerings. I suppose if I'd have been a movie star or famous writer/producer who was well known, I'd have been treated quited differently. Welcome to Hollywood! Pros: Nice view!... Cons: I can get better service and food elsewhere
