We went to Jax on Saturday, December 6th. The hostess was pretty bad, and because we weren't sure if we were ordering off the happy hour menu or the regular one, she kept trying to put our daughter (23 months old) on a bar stool with no arms and no back. When I tried to get an actual seat (it was 4:30, the dining room was empty. The tables were covered with white paper and had little cups of crayons on them) she resisted and brought our daughter a high chair that put her head easily a foot below the bar were her food would sit. She placed the high chair out in the middle of the aisle, blocking people from one side of the bar from getting to the restroom. Even though I had made it clear that we were purchasing a gift certificate that would more than cover the price of two adult meals and the dining room was empty, we still couldn't get a seat. We finally just ordered full price appetizers so that we could get a seat that wasn't likely to cause our child injury. Once we actually got a table, our food was amazing and the waiter and the manager were very nice. I found the server very accommodating and we tried a lot of different food. The salads were crisp and fresh. The sliders and polenta were outstanding. The calamari was tender and the kids menu was expansive. Everyone was very pleasant and we were impressed with the experience overall. Next time -- we will run past the hostess, get a seat and get to the good stuff. Pros: ambience, food, service Cons: hostess
