Review content:
I went to The Grand after I saw an online special: Color, Cut, Blow dry with a full set of nails package Only $85. The only other information that they give is that you must mention the promotion at the time of check out. I, however, mentioned it before I scheduled my appointment.
When I arrived at the salon my color consultation consisted of Jenni speaking to me while she's working on someone else. From the ad, I assumed "Color" meant all over color. In actuality, it means retouching partial highlights. Retouching means I would already have to have highlights which I didn't.
Jenni told me to add color highlights, give me cut and blow dry would cost $110. But that she could throw in a free pedicure. I agreed. I would rather pay a little more and get exactly what I want, plus I desperately needed a trim.
For my highlights, I requested well-blended, natural-looking, subtle carmel tones added to my naturally blackish brown hair. I emphasized and repeated well-blended, natural-looking, subtle. I was very forgiving when my highlights came out noticeably blonde and not blended,- meaning I could see where they started and ended.
They were able to darken them by adding red color. And even though I did emphasize subtle and blended, the highlights still look streaky! I also have a reddish tint around my hair line. I know my hair will grow back and the tint will fade. And I am very happy with my cut and blow out, so I just let it go.
However, I will not forgive that when I went to check out, they tried to charge me another $20 on top of the $110! $85 to $110 to $130. This is a bait and switch scam and is completely unacceptable and illegal!
A few days after I left this review and filed a bait & switch complaint with the BBB, Jenni the owner called me. I returned her call thinking she was going to politely correct the problem like an adult or atleast explain her deceiving online ad.
Instead she unleashed a very unprofessional tirade about how she does "not care" about the complaint, that I am "backstabbing" and that I am a "mean person." I actually had to hang up on her because her tone became very billigerently, she continued to call me names, and she would not let me speak.
She mentioned that I told her that I was happy with my hair. This is true. I did tell her that because the highlights looked brown and blended under the lighting at the salon. However, outside, under natural light, they looked red and streaky,- exactly the opposite of what I asked for.
I also told her that I was happy with the service before II went to pay and saw that they tried to charge me an additional $20, and before I got home and saw that all of the red dye they used had stained the back of my light, pink sweater.
Beware of this place!
