Review content:
My wife had herd about the meltingpot from friends at work and it seemed like it would be an interesting place to try out, so we went there for our first anniversary. When we arrived we were seated within 5 min so that was definitely good. Our waitress was very good and had our drinks and food out to us fast. We started with the cheese fondue which was basically the mexican four cheeses you find get at the store mixed with beer, garlic, pepper and something else. That came with a bowl of bread pieces a tiny bowl of chopped apples and another tiny bowl of chopped carrots and cauliflower. The cheese wasn't very good and we just at the food by itself. Next came the salads, I'm not a big salad fan but that was definitely the best salad I've ever had.
Then came the main course, which was a huge disappointment. It had filet (about 2-3oz if that), lobster tail (medium size), chicken (2-3oz), 6 shrimp (medium size), pork (2-3oz), and 8 pieces of ravioli. For $100 I expected a little more. The fondue made everything taste exactly the same so only thing different between the meats was the texture, oh well I was enjoying the drinks so I could deal with it right? Wrong! They stopped serving me after 3 drinks, not because I was drunk, but because that was there policy. I talked to the manager, after complaining about the small servings for so much, and on top of that cutting me, off he told me I could have one more beer but no more after that. I was to upset to enjoy the dessert which was chocolate peanut butter with fruit, marshmallows, and a small slice of cheese cake.
In the end it came out to about $160 with tip included. I've been to quite a few upscale restaurants (I don't consider the meltingpot upscale) so the price wasn't a surprise, but I've never left a restaurant hungry after paying that much. The meltingpot is the first restaurant that I've ever been so disgusted with that I will not ever consider going to again.
Pros: Good service
Cons: Food
