Review content:
I don't know who wrote the reviews with more than one star, but this place had the worst food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Two people in my party ordered salmon. It arrived seared (who sears salmon?), and had a strong, acerbic fishy smell. The consistency was not firm; it was mushy and a bit slimy. They politely requested it be cooked for longer, in hopes of this improving the texture. It did not. It now smelled like older leftovers and neither ate it. No one will believe this unless they try it, but the couscous side dish tasted exactly like CHEF BOYARDEE. What else can I say? I ordered mahi mahi, and received another fish altogether. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't mahi. It was compact, dry, and thick like swordfish, but a bit milder, maybe tilapia. Did they think no one would notice? They should have just told me they ran out of mahi. The 4th member of our party ordered steak. It was cooked perfectly, but tasted strongly of fish. No one believed him, so all tried it and it DID taste very strongly of fish. He hates seafood, and so explained this to the waitress (politely again), who rudely explained "it will taste exactly the same way if we cook another one." He ordered pasta. I was offended by how appallingly bad the food was here. Please do not eat at Avalon. You will be frustrated and feel you have wasted your money, unless you frequent Pizza Hut and Friendly's, in which case this *might* be a step up.
