Let me start by saying that I hate the dentist more than anything in the world. I take care of my teeth, but I have been cursed with the bad enamel family gene. I first visited Monarch Dental on South Temple in Salt Lake City at the beginning of November 2007. My first visit, which consisted of a cleaning and exam, took over 3 hours. The dentist made it sound urgent that I get as much done as possible in one day at my next appointment, so we did two cavities and a root canal in one morning. The day of my appointment, the dentist doing the work informed me that "this didn't need to be done this fast," and everyone in the office referred to me as the marathon patient. It was HELL. And not only did I have to sit with my mouth wide open for two hours straight (which made me want to rip my sore jaw right off my face), the water wasn't turned on so I couldn't rinse the digusting medicine flavor out of my mouth. The dentist's tool then broke and he was unable to finish my root canal. Another appointment was made. I took the day off of work and went in for my next appointment to finish what the broken tool couldn't. The assistant who made the appointment scheduled me for a day when the dentist was in fact working in Ogden. This was discovered after sitting in the waiting room for 15 minutes and the dentist was nowhere to be found. They called me to reschedule, and their next available time was in the middle of January 2008. It takes 2 months to do a job that should've been done in an hour!? On top of that, my insurance is going to expire so I'm going to have to pay for work that should've been done in November. Mistake after mistake after mistake. I deserve some freaking compensation for what they're doing to me! Not only am I probably going to be billed for bogus appointments, I'm missing hours and hours of work at a high paying job. I am transferring to another dentist and I beg you, PLEASE do not give Monarch Dental your money. Cons: Everything.
