It had been a few years since I had visited the dentist, and honestly I have a tendency to neglect my dental hygiene more than I can excuse. Not surprisingly, on my last visit they found 3 cavities (I was already aware of the gum recession). The woman who did the cleaning was extraordinarily gentle, and Dr. Sjoberg seemed to be in a good humor. He found it in him to withhold from his usual rabid republicanism and instead made bald jokes. Normally I would resent that from a man with hair as thick as Dr. Sjoberg's, but it was it was a pleasant distraction from other looming topics of conversation. I was expecting to be berated and guilt-tripped on my poor dental maintenance, but i was pleasantly surprised by how well they kept their disappointment to themselves. I am determined to stick to a more regular flossing regimen so that on my next visit I shan't worry so much.
