I'll start out by saying that my sister has had 3 babies here and has always received excellent care and had friendly nurses. However, the experience I had while in labor with my daughter 2 years ago was quite different. This was the first time I'd ever been in labor, so I didn't know what to expect. I was in quite a lot of pain, but doing my best not to act like it. The nurse laughed at me when I told her I was experiencing pain and told me "Just wait. You haven't even started yet." I had been in labor for 12 hours at that time. I was nauseous and threw up in the bed. She didn't clean it up, even after my husband asked her. We finally had to call another nurse in to bring clean sheets. Around this time she told me "Don't you dare poop in the bed because I'm not cleaning it up." Yes, she actually said that. On top of everything else, she did not believe I was actually in labor and wanted to send me home. I refused to go home, so they gave me morphine so I could sleep. Yeah right, my daughter was born an hour later. If I would have went home, we never would have made it back to the hospital (we live 45 minutes away). None of the nurses I had after her were anywhere near as bad, but none of them were friendly. No one showed me how to do anything with my baby, or asked if I had any questions. That night, after being in labor all day, my baby messed her diaper. I told my nurse, but she never changed her. I was unable to get out of bed, so the poor thing didn't get changed for hours. I have edited the star rating of this post. I would rate it 2 stars for my first baby and 4 stars for my 2nd, so it averages 3 stars. My second labor went smoothly, everyone was VERY nice and my follow up care was wonderful.
