Review content:
The Mercury Lounge is a great place to have a drink, either late night or early. The middle of the partying night it just gets too crowded with people trying to see who else is there, etc... Too bad too, because the music is usually wonderful and chill. Great decor, and a roughly sketched out dance floor that I've never seen more than a few rather drunk people dancing on. Again, too bad, because the music is usually good.
The drinks are a bit pricey here, but I guess you're paying for the attitude. Restrooms are downstairs, and are very nicely appointed (at least they are for the ladies).
Here's the big disappointment: the upstairs private room. I've been to several events here, and I'm appalled at how icky the space is as compared to the main level. Everything could use a good scrubbing and some major redecorating. I know that if I rented this room, I'd be asking for my money back pretty quickly. It just seems to me that the private room should be as tasteful and cool as the rest of the space.
