Cancer is a scarey thing, especially when you have it in your neck and find out you need to have a touchy surgery. I had a 4cm tumor removed along with the entire thyroid gland. If you know anything about thyroid surgery and cancer, it is adviced to find a competant surgeon whom has experience with the thyroid removal. I have read this over and over, so naturally i was nervous.
My first visit with Dr. Marcarian, I was in tears because he was the one who did my fine needle aspiration and had the deed to do of telling me I indeed had cancer. He was very proffessional, and told me in the most caring manner possible. He listened to my concerns and step by step explained what we needed to do now, and needed to possibley do in the future. He did not seem to work me up, and he did all of the worrying and gave me the news straight up as it came.
The nurses were so sweet, and patient with me. When I finally had the surgery I was such a wreck that day. He offered me a sedative to calm me down before I was actually put out for the surgery. I am glad that he did this because I was making my family very nervous with my fears.
The surgery was a success, and unbelievable by looking at my neck today, you can barely tell I have a scar. I have had dozens of doctors look at the scar, and they were impressed by the way it looked. I have seen others with the same surgery, and you can really see the scars!!
Doc seemed to have saved my Parathyroid glands which is always a concern when having this surgery. The surgery was a complete success. I have recommended this doctor to my own family, (my nephew), he had a tonsilectomy and was bouncing around in no time. His mother and father were also pleased with Doctor Marcarian.
I would trust him again if I ever need another surgery for a tumor, or have any other problems with my neck. He would be my first choice.
