Unless you are willing to place your family member here by "dumping" them and only seeing them on holidays, birthdays, etc. and don't care how they are disrepected and you will be disrespected, please do not use this facility. If you are a caring family member and want to oversee your relative's care and that their needs are being met and make regular and/or frequent visits, this is not the place for your loved one. If you are too visible, ask what they feel are too many questions, find too many medication errors, some of them very serious errors, and discuss the deficient quality of food being served, you will be disliked, screamed at, intimidated, told you are nothing but a complainer and possibly even reported to DCF!! They want you to go away. They do everything they can to "pretend" they care about the residents. This is a "for profit" facility so I beleive the money is the bottom line. They also will try to bill you for food trays that your relative didn't even receive. You can even go to corporate headquarters in Washington state and give names, facts and dates of occurrences and they don't care what is going on in their facilities. Outwardly it seems like the management is sooo nice, and the facility is sooo nice, but do not be fooled by their "dog and pony show". They will even lie to your face about matters concerning your loved one and you. Administration will not return your phone calls and then lie to you that they didn't get the phone messages. They don't want you involved - period. Don't make waves, don't bothere them. There have been at least 4 Managing Directors at this facility since the first of this year (2011). That should tell you something. The current Director has only been there approximately 6 to 8 weeks. There have been 3 Nursing Directors since the first of the year. The present Nursing Director has been in that position for approxmately 2 months. This should give you a clue that something is amiss at this facility. The transportation to doctor's appointments by their "bus" is not reliable so don't plan on relying on this "benefit". Appointments can be missed, are late which the doctor will charge you. This happens no matter how much notice you give to use the bus. i.e., there will be too many people going in too many directions at the same time so it is not possible. Also, the main doctor that comes there in-house does not have hospital privileges thus if your relative needs to go to the hospital she will not be able to care or see them at the hospital. Please be sure to have an outside primary physician overseeing your relative's medical care and needs and to be certain that your relative is receiving the proper medications and is the prescribing physician. Snacks in the evening consist of cold sandwiches either ham and cheese on white bread no mayo or mustard, lettuce or tomator; or peanut butter on white bread, sometimes with jelly sometimes not. It is a long time between 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. for no nourishment. My relative has lost considerable weight since living there. Most of the care staff are also new. There are only a handful that have been there for some time. There are some aides that do care about the residents. Yes, I am removing my relative from this facility.
