By the time I passed through the doors of Good Vibrations, I had only been into one other adult store in my life. After wandering the store for 10 minutes, I realized it was completely unlike the other store I'd visited. There were no darkened corners or curtain hiding personal movie viewing areas. In fact, it actually reminded me of some of the fashion "boutiques" located elsewhere in Berkeley. Adult toys displayed on velvet and satin in glass cases instead of hanging on peg board displays or in bins. Books neatly organized on shelves by subject or content, instead of haphazardly piled on shelves. Yes, you can find adult videos and dvds...but at Good Vibrations, they rate them for you sorted by subject and content. Where else but in Berkeley are you going to find an adult store where the women's restroom has lovely potted plants and scented candles burning? They definitely cater to their female clientele...but isn't it true that women actually do most of the shopping? It's a completely sound business decision, I say. If you're too squeamish to visit the store in person, you can always visit their website where you can browse and shop in the privacy of your home.
