Review content:
On a day of ideal whether, the 'Some Like It Hot' show at Gallery 10 also managed to achieve an ideal climate. The relationship of the art with the theme was dynamic, with some, such as "Cacahuates Calientes", a photograph of a sign for roasted peanuts, drawing so directly from the theme as to be comedic in its relevancy. A few pieces, such as 'Fusion-Betty as Geisha as Marilyn' by Michael Hagan, took 'hot' to have a more sexual tone. Other pieces conducted straight temperature such as 'San Francisco Fire of 1906' by Sidney Laurence, a vast detailed drawing of San Francisco's cityscape going up in flames. The literal temperature, the sexual, and the warmer tones sculpted this heated exhibit into something even-ended and refreshing.
