Review content:
I have been going to Abhiruchi for years, and I prefer it to most other Indian spots on the west side. Prices are reasonable, service is prompt, food is very yummy. Known for its lunch buffet, Abhiruchi is a Beaverton gem.
Located in the Kmart/Grocery Outlet mall on Murray and TV Hwy.
Dark windows and modest signage, it doesn't scream for attention - maybe it should. It is in a former ice cream shop, and still has the flavor numbers on the back wall, now joined with Indian paper decorations. This place could really steal the show with a little interior design attention - some Indian decor from World Market would do wonders.
Looking beyond the atmosphere, the food is pretty darned good. Clearly there is pride in their cooking, as every time I go the food gets better and better, and the buffet selections vary slightly from day to day. Mostly meat and vegetable curries, grain dishes and Indian desserts, with green salad and a variety of sauces and condiments to compliment your plate.
All-you-can-eat lunch buffet, can make it busy for the weekday lunch crowd. Go early and don't plan to have any dinner that night!
A few things the lunch buffet doesn't include: dosas and varieties of naan and tandoori dishes. Those items alone are worth a trip to Abhiruchi for dinner.
I would like to see how Abhiruchi continues to evolve - maybe more grilled items on the buffet? Maybe more attention to detail and garnish? Can't wait!
See you soon!
Pros: fab lunch buffet, great dinner items
Cons: atmosphere is ... odd
