My family and I have taken our cars to Arthur at Tenafly Citgo ever since we moved to Tenafly. He owns the gas station and garage at the intersection of Riveredge and Tenafly Roads.
All of the repairs that we had done were done at a very high level and we never doubted the work that had been done. We never felt that things that weren't broken were getting fixed just for the sake of it.
Arthure was always very kind and personable. He even made a "house call" one time when we thought the battery was dead and couldn't get the car to him.
Arthure also puts cars up for sale. The intersection where the business is located is heavily trafficked and is therefore a good place to advertise a car. When i was looking for a used car after I got my driver's license, I ultimately bought a car that someone had advertised there. Arthur did the inspection, and even though the car had a lot of miles on it, he said the engine was in good condition and everything was fine. The car never gave me problems for the three or four years that I owned it.
It is hard to find a good honest mechanic nowadays, but I would recommend going to Arthur at Tenafly Citgo if you need auto work done.
