Review content:
I had withheld going to this restaurant due to bad reviews online. Having moved from Florida I'm a bit picky about my seafood but still desire fresh fish. I finally went for lunch and afterward felt horrible about avoiding this place because of a few bad reviews. I had a delicious Escolar fillet and great service for a surprisingly affordable price at lunch. Second visit was a similar experience with a good server and good food.
My visit for lunch yesterday was the exception. Had I never been to this restaurant I would have likely not returned. Had I been paying dinner prices I would have been especially disappointed. Thankfully my previous good experiences are the reason I will return.
My server said all of the right things but he acted too busy for me and would walk away while I was speaking to him. How rude. His words may have been saying the right things but his actions said otherwise. I ordered a coconut crusted Mahi that was a lunch special. The first piece was burned and burnt coconut is not appetizing. The server offered to bring another piece. Yes, please. I didn't eat much of my sides in anticipation of the new fillet. Sadly, I let the server take my sides away with my burned piece of fish. Guess the kitchen was upset with me. The next piece was beautifully golden but completely raw. By now my hour lunch break was over and I didn't have time to wait on a new meal, again. A manager came over an apologized and comped my meal. I left my server a big tip though he didn't really deserve it. Technically he did everything he was supposed to but I left feeling like "one of those" diners that gets talked badly about when I left. I don't LIKE being a pain but for a $15 lunch I expected more than burned or raw fish. (I love sushi but Mahi is not good raw).
Maybe the restaurant made a poor decision to have coconut crusted Mahi since Mahi is a thick fish and if you can't cook it thoroughly without burning the crust use a different fish. I had some bread, a few bites of my sides, and a few bites of fish. I left the restaurant without being very satisfied and a bit hungry.
With the meal comped with no questions I will return again for lunch and request the server that calls me "young lady" though I'm 30. She was so nice and attentive. If I'm looking to pay high dollar for dinner I will go to Bonefish which has never once been disappointing and has always delivers amazing food and outstanding service.
