Synopsis of Recommendations:
- Appetizer: Bacon-Wrapped Scallops, Excellent
- Entree: Chicago Style Ribeye: Best Steak I've Ever Tasted
- Get it cooked "Medium Rare Plus"
- Dessert: Chocolate Souffle, The Perfect Meal Cap
I arrived at Morton's on a Saturday evening at 5:45, we were shown to our seat promptly and our waiter was to our table within seconds.
The Atmosphere: Classy, but fun. They had varieties of Jazz and Big Band playing in the background, lots of dark wood and low lighting, but just enough noise to make it intimate yet bustling.
The Food: They have some of the standard appetizers for a Steakhouse joint, you can look them up on their web site, we had the Scallops wrapped in Bacon with Apricot Chutney, which I would definitely recommend, the smoked, seafood, and sweet tastes blended well together.
While I'm certain their seafood is decent, I went with their Chicago Bone-in Ribeye and it is a contender for the best steak I've ever tasted (sorry Dad). The outside was blackened a bit, but the inside was a meat manifestation of heaven, the taste was unbelievable.. I would also recommend their "Medium Rare Plus" with the "Hot Red Center" for how they cook it, much better than Rare in my opinion.
The Service: While they do fulfill some of the "place the napkin on your lap, scrape the crumps from you tablecloth" bit, and the waiter over all was fairly responsive, it did take them a bit of time to fulfill our request for Soda Water (I'm a messy fellow) and our souffle was a bit late (which we ordered at the beginning of the meal).
