Review content:
We took clients to Rainbow Lodge last weekend and it was outstanding. The unique flair of the restaurant makes it a great place to entertain. I don't know whether to start with the food or the atmosphere. Salad or gumbo was our starters, and I believe the crab gumbo was the winner. Our set menu of filet, snapper, duck and lamb options. The duck wasn't tried by our group but all the other were all tasty per commentary. For dessert we enjoyed a sampler where each got to try 4 different desserts - which is a decadent way to finish up. The atmosphere is probably the most unique aspect that captivates our guests. The fish & game mounts with the typical lodge decore is embellished by the building itself. The log construction is taken one step further with the raw log columns with the root flairs, and stick handrails. Even doors between rooms are custom metal gates with a very artistic flair. Overall the atmophere is very nice without being stuffy or slick. The grounds aren't as extensive or elaborate as the Rainbow's previous location, and consequently we didn't spend much time outside - even thought the entry fountain was a very nice spot to wait for your car. The service was great - which to me means supportive, but not hovering or intrusive. Our pre-set menu did away with the typical announcement of specials. We opted for less expensive wines, but each variety served was good per my palate - but the available selection seemed appropriate to the food. I should mention our small private party received a higher level of attention when making arrangements, that I don't sense when making other reservations at larger establishments. Overall all these factors make me wish Rainbow Lodge was in all the cities where we host clients.
