I have to let others know about my negative experience with Hastings. I was going to spend about $7k landscaping my back yard, but only spent $4.5k. I'm glad I decided to do the project in stages. Hastings redesigned it -- building a small retaining wall and planting several native plants. I also decided to take advantage of their Personal Gardener (PG). For a year and a half, I didn't see a PG at my house to check on the native plants that had died during that time. Instead, Hastings would just send random people to replace the dead plants. I wanted them to tell me why the plants were dying, yet no one did anything. I went to speak personally with Michael Toner and he reluctantly promised to send someone. A PG showed up at my house shortly thereafter and looked around, trying to understand the reasons why the plants were dying. The PG left without answers but promised to stay on top of it. Well, the PG fell off the face of the earth. My repeated calls and voicemails went unreturned. Hastings will take your money but they'll fall short when it comes to servicing and making you feel like a true customer. I was referred by a friend of mine, but my friend feels terrible and has agreed not to do business with them given my experience. I was really looking forward to a good relationship with Hastings. I gave the company a number of chances and I got burned every time. I will make sure to spread by word-of-mouth my negative experience. It has been an absolute disappointment.
