Syd's is the kind of salon you'll drive past on the street a hundred times and not notice until someone points it out to you. Then you'll wonder how you never saw it before. Tucked away behind the bustle of downtown Chapel Hill and the chaos of Franklin Street, Syd's is the kind of hair shop which inspires dedicated customers to keep coming back. Funky, earthy, with a chic hipster flair, Syd's is where the cool kids go to get their hair snipped. The modern decor is open, airy and welcoming as soon as you step in. Though they recently moved from walk-ins only to a reservation system, it's still worth the wait to call ahead. Every cut I've had at Syd's has been by a different stylist, and each one was fantastic - exactly what I wanted, even though I've never been very good at articulating it ahead of time. Whether you're looking for a traditional style or cut, or maybe something a little wilder, Syd's can handle any request. Haircuts are a flat rate of $25, and they also offer coloring services.
