While portions of the Adobe Resort may look modern, it was originally built with hand-formed adobe bricks -- you can see one in the lobby, along with pictures of the original building efforts.
The Adobe Resort is just mile north of Yachats on the ocean-side of Hwy 101 (depending on which way you are coming, about 2 hours from Eugene or just over 3 hours from Portland.)
Most rooms have ocean views, some with fireplaces and some with jacuzzi tubs for two. There are also pet-friendly units (available at a small added fee.) All units have microwave, coffeemaker, refrigerator and color/satellite TV. Full kitchen units are also available. Some rooms include a balcony.
The Resort perches on the rocks, and the sunset view from the restaurant is often breathtaking. The menu is somewhat "upscale", and there is a fine wine list and full bar offerings. Try the salad bar -- it features unique combinations that are always a treat. Super steaks and fresh seafood are featured, and the nightly specials (and early-bird deals on weekdays) are often fantastic buys. The day-time menus do not seem so intriguing, but Sunday does include a champagne brunch offering.
Room prices are competitive for the Oregon coast. You may want to check the special packages (which include a bonus meal or two, or other special gifts.)
The Adobe is next to Smelt Sands park and the historic (and controversial) 804 Trail, which is entirely free for public access. This is an excellent area for whale watching and tide-pooling.
The Resort is close in to town, with more affordable restaurants, grocery and and gift shopping nearby.
You may want to check to see if large groups are meeting at the Resort during your stay. The Resort does accomodate them, and this can cause waits in the restaurant or parking congestion.
