Godfrey Daniels is an unique music venue in the Lehigh Valley, devoted to folk performers. It doesn't have the grandeur of the Zoellner Arts Center or the State Theatre, but its small size and casual atmosphere are among its greatest attributes.
If you like folk music and live in/near the Lehigh Valley, you're lucky to have such a local treasure! There truly isn't a bad seat in the house. The frequently crowded lobby includes a refreshments counter and a small merchandise corner of the current performer's work. Relying heavily on volunteers for staffing, Godfrey Daniels maintains the free spirit, intimate atmosphere, and welcoming nature that is at the heart of folk music in general. Godfrey Daniels also holds open mike nights, jam sessions, and story circles, as well as some family-oriented events.
It might not compare with the style, performers, and capacity of the larger Lehigh Valley performing arts venues, but then again, it really isn't intended to. For its intimate, folk-inspired purposes, Godfrey Daniels is close to perfect.
