Skein is an amazing little specialty yarn store that brings together unusual yarns that have nothing in common with the generic types sold at fabric and craft stores along with an incredible selection of patterns for knit and crochet projects of all types. Best of all, if you are a novice or even completely unacquainted with the world of knitting, they have classes led by expert instructors who are with their students every step of the way through their first (or fifth, or fiftieth) project.
