Review content:
I f you appreciate architecture you'll love touring this complex. If you love extreme home makeover you will love this tour of a restoration of ginormous scope. Frank Lloyd Wright prairie school fans will be hypnotized once they see the restored opus. Personal docent led tours are amazing- the passion of these volunteers and depth of knowledge is cool as the wing their way on your unscripted tour. Tell them your particular interests and you've got it slanted to your need. The hidden secret is the finest gift shop I've been to at any museum. I could christmas shop for the whole family, books, jewelry, apparel, local craftsman, even Frank Lloyd Wright furniture. (you can visit the shop inside the Carriage House for free anytime). I have gone on 3 tours in the last 5 years and I see new stuff everytime. You can now tour the Gardeners Cottage, The Barton House, The Martin Main House, the Conservatory and the Carriage House. Soon to be completed (winter 2008) Toshiko Mori designed visitors Center will offer views and Wright interpretation that makes Fallingwater look tame. Can you tell I was impressed? I've been to dozens of Architectural House Museums (mainly frank Lloyd Wright) nothing compares to Buffalo.
Pros: Tours, gift shop
Cons: parking on street, park at the zoo and walk a block.
