We bought many items from American. However the proof of a good purchase is the longevity. We purchased an extended warranty and it is a rare event, but well spent. They have now come to our house 6 times a little over 3 months to repair our refrigerator and it doesn't stay cold. It takes over a week for them to come back and try again. We have had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food from both the freezer section and the refrigerator section at least twice. The last time the tech said it must be a leak inside the walls of the unit and they will offer us a replacement settlement of some type. He stated they would see that it was not repairable and call us back. A few days passed and I called them to see if we were going to use a refrigerator again or not and was told that the case had been closed! They read the note from the tech that we would call them! They told us we be called the next day and what number to reach us at...the office during the day, home at night. Got home to find 2 messages explaining that they were unable to contact their own tech and would have to call back the next day. Next came and went and no call! I called the following day and the service department wanted to send out another tech! I indicated that was not going to be satisfactory. Then she researched the history and said she forward it back to Nicole who is the one who didn't call yesterday...the saga continues....do you want to buy a refrigerator? Pros: Selection! Cons: Service!!!!!!
