Review content:
Word of Faith International Christian Center is well-known to Metro Detroit, and most certainly known to the world because it is an international ministry. It also serves as a middle-size corporation rivaling major non-religious organizations. It is often criticized for its "Prosperity" Doctrine, and are perplexed to why a church could be so huge to gobble up millions of dollars a year. Word of Faith has approximately 23,000 members as of late 2006, and generates over $30 million dollars in annual revenues from members and visitors of all kinds. It has excellent programs for children and youth, and has all the best speakers, nobody shabby. They've had people like Paula White, Creflo Dollar, T.D. Jakes... and we've got Canton Jones singing in the fall '06 Harvest fest. Here are the pros and cons of Word of Faith (I know them, I've been a member for 18 years):
Pros:
Excellent messages, interesting weekly announcements on giant overhead screens, lots of things to do (it's like a mini-mall Sunday-Saturday), great small "cell" groups for those who don't like to be arounds CROWDS of people, lots of space on the 115-acre expanse (but it seems to get tighter by the day), also... one of the major pros of this church is the respect and the looks you get from people when you say, "I go to Word of Faith".
Cons:
Parking, parking, PARKING!!!
Coming in to church isn't so bad, but leaving is a mess even though they put up traffic lights. Leaving on a typical Sunday is almost comparable to leaving the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Come on down to Word of Faith sometime. Pastor is Bishop Keith Butler.
