Review content:
Hello, My fiance and I went to this Animal House today (10/13/08) and were appalled at the condition of the fish and reptiles. The fish tanks were covered in fish feces (and so were some of the fish), many of them had ich (a disease), and even more were dead or skinny. The reptiles were contained in incorrectly sized tanks and did not have clean water or substrate much less the proper humidity and hiding spots. When I informed the gentleman at the front desk (a blond guy) about the sick fish on the floor he rudely informed me that is how fish come in and he had no place else to put them. He claimed that he got thousands of fish in and he was treating them, however they was no sign stating they were under treatment and could not be sold to customers, which would be the responsible way to deal with the situation. In addition to that, I'm not so sure that he was even telling the truth because ich treatments require daily water changes to clean out extra parasites and there was a layer of fish feces in the tank indicating they had not been siphoned recently. Please to not support this business, they do not care for animals in a responsible manner. The only good side was that they did have a current and wide selection of pet care products (chances are this is where they make the most money). However, I refuse to buy pet products from them because I have a love for animals and cannot support Animal House with a good conscience. Honestly, I would rather support a Petsmart or Petco because even though they do not have very much information about the fish they sell, at least they keep them clean and the staff is friendly. Pros: good supply of pet supplies Cons: horrible animal conditions- thumbs down
