Our family took our 5 year old lab to this place yesterday. She was playing in the back yard, starting yelping and crying in pain and then lost use of her hind legs. My husband took her in right away and the staff were very focused on our dog. They let him stay with her, but wanted to get her calmed and stabalized. In my opinion, in an emergency like this, this is exactly what a vet is suppose to do - focus on my injured animal. After she was stabilized, they explained the possible causes to my husband and recommend that she be kept for medical management for the next 24 hours and be re-evaluated then. We called later that evening, and the vet on duty explained everything that was going on. They didn't withold information to make the prognosis sound better, but did tell us that there were two indicators to have hope in that she would recover. That night (between 6 pm and 8 am) they called around the city to find a neurologist to help us. Each time we called, they were very compassionate to our grief, and kept us fully informed. They did all they could to find the specialist we needed, and then bargained with them to get services within our budget so we wouldn't have to. Yes, the fees were expensive, but it's an emergency vet. They are always expensive. It's an expectation when needing emergency care. I know that our dog was well cared for, and that her best interest is the focus of the vets here. I am very happy with the service I received in this very difficult circumstance.
