First, I'll start with a quick backstory to let you know where I'm coming from. I'm from a very small town in the midwest, so when I was 18 and wanted a tattoo, my logic was: "melrose is famous, everything on melrose must be good" so I walked into a tattoo parlor on melrose for my first tattoo. I know, really stupid, but I was 18 and as green as they come... The guy literally carved the tattoo into my lower back. I asked for a small outline of a fairy , what I got was a 5 year olds version of a scary looking fairy doing mushrooms on my back.... the pain was so bad, my palms were sweating and I was trying not to pass out. I always heard that tattoos were painfull so I didn't want to complain. My tattoo artist changed the bandage 4 times before I left because I was bleeding so badly, I ended up having to go to the hospital to have it cauterized shut. So... you all have the worst possible tattoo experience in your mind? I lived with that horrendous tattoo for 8 years, and because of my experience, I was terrified to do anything about it. Finally, I started looking around for cover up artists because I couldn't stand having something so embarassing on my body anymore. I found Saul, at Horns and Halos Tattoo in Sherman Oaks. I saw some of his work, and his stuff is awesome! Whether you are looking for new work or, especially cover ups, he's definitely your guy! I was so scared, but he and the staff there really put me to ease. Let me tell you, the cover up was no big deal as far as pain, even over my scar tissue. And the artwork?? If you didn't know where to look to see my cracked out fairy, you wouldn't be able to see her at all. And the new tat is beautiful! Amazing job!!! I would reccommend him to everyone who wants a tattoo, or is looking for a cover up! I can't thank him enough for making me feel comfortable in my skin again.
